Faris Mecklai (Artsci, 2022), Selections and Program Officer at Loran Scholars Foundation
I’m Faris Mecklai, a sustainability professional passionate about climate justice, community building, and systems change. I recently completed my Master of Environment and Sustainability at the University of Toronto, where my research explored the political economy and socio-ecological dimensions of the electric vehicle transition—examining how foreign direct investment, right-wing libertarianism, lithium extraction, and Indigenous resistance intersect in Argentina. I now work with the Loran Scholars Foundation, supporting national selection, volunteer training, and equity initiatives that identify and develop young leaders across Canada. My work continues to be guided by sustainability principles—centring equity, interdisciplinary systems thinking, and long-term community impact in every context I engage with. |
