Dr. Becca Collins-Nelsen holds a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Department of Pediatrics at McMaster. In 2021-22 she will be teaching ARTSSCI 3B03 / Technology and Society I and co-teaching ARTSSCI 1C03 / Inquiry: Global Challenges.

Dr. Collins-Nelsen received her BA (Hons) in Communication and Sociology from Carleton University, her MA from Lakehead University, and her PhD in Sociology from McMaster University. Her teaching and research interests explore complex issues of social inequality, community engagement, labour, and education. Her research has explored social inequality in cultural industries, gender and technology, and student empowerment in community-based education approaches. Her work has been published in the Canadian Review of Sociology and Innovations in Education and Teaching International. Outside of academia, Dr. Collins-Nelsen is an avid sports fan who plays in hockey and basketball leagues and coaches fitness.
