Dr. David Lozinski is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. He was primarily responsible for the development of McMaster’s Honours Actuarial and Financial Mathematics program, and is Director of the professional Masters in Financial Mathematics program (M-Phimac). He came to teach at McMaster University after having worked for about 10 years in the banking industry in a variety of quantitative and leadership roles. He has extensive experience in mathematical modeling and analysis of credit risk, including work in economic capital, structured product analysis, and the validation of pricing and hedging models for exotic derivatives. He earned his PhD in Applied Mathematics from Northwestern University, working on the modeling and analysis of combustion phenomena, including NASA–sponsored work on flames in zero gravity.
Dr. Lozinski returned to Arts & Science in 2019-20 to teach ARTSSCI 2R03 / Statistics.
