Unique Course Takes Artsci Students and Profs on Icelandic Adventure!
In May 2015, 25 students, including six from Arts & Science, along with four faculty members travelled to Iceland to participate in ISCI/SCIENCE 3IS3: Interdisciplinary Sciences Field Camp. Designed to introduce students to various types of field investigations, the course provides an exciting range of hands-on learning experiences outside the traditional classroom setting.
This year’s teaching team consisted of Dr. Carolyn Eyles and Russ Ellis from the Integrated Sciences Program, as well as Dr. Jean Wilson, Director of the Arts & Science Program, and fellow Artsci instructor, Dr. John Maclachlan. The group spent almost two weeks exploring not only the awe-inspiring physical environment, but also the history, socioeconomic realities, and cultural life of Iceland.
A video of their adventures can be viewed here.
