Artsci Students Featured in Digital Map Exhibit

Arts & Science students were given the opportunity to examine rare maps as part of an experiential learning project in ARTSSCI 3BB3 / Technology and Society II. Students in the class visited McMaster’s Lloyd Reeds Maps Collection in Mills Memorial Library, which houses thousands of paper maps, air photos, atlases and digital historical maps. ARTSSCI 3BB3 instructor Dr. John Maclachlan asked students to choose one map from the collection to be the focus of their project. Students then developed their own research questions and discussed the historical significance of their chosen map. The projects have now been included in a digital exhibit accessible through the Library’s website to provide further information about the rare maps to the public and researchers.
