Seeking Exhibitors for the First-Ever Artsci Art Show

The first-ever Artsci Art Show is set to take place this fall, and we’re seeking exhibitors and featured artists. Exhibitors are free to display their choice of artpiece, while featured artists will ideally have three or four displays and be willing to speak to visitors about their work.

The show’s theme is about letting suppressed creative energy out into the world, so we encourage artists to focus on subjects such as barriers to creative expression, art as a way to deepen learning, art as a compliment or an antithesis to academia, and art as a creative and emotional outlet.

Organizers of the event are attempting to include all Artsci students — even those who don’t identify as a visual artist. To do that, a collaborative art piece is being created in order to recognize those moments when you just can’t help but let your inner-artist spill out onto the page. Whether that be times that you’ve drawn overly elaborate headers on your study sheets or doodled in the margins of your class notes, we believe that these moments — when we simply run with our creative urges — are more than just methods of procrastination, and we want to celebrate them. So tear out your doodles, however simple or complex they may be, and submit them to the dropbox in LRW-3038. We’ll be compiling the submissions to create something special.

The show will take place on 16 November 2018 from 7:30-11:00 p.m. at Redchurch Café & Gallery in Hamilton.
